Are there any nursing students that just got accepted in the R.N. program that have had to have a hospital st?

stay of 2 days from the result of an overdosage of a suicide attempt within this year that still got accepted into the program? I have no criminal record or drug record, but within this year I had to be hospitalized for a couple days as a result from a suicide attempt. I don't want to waste my time or money trying to get into the program if this is going to be a problem. By the way, my diagnosis is major/clinical depression.

Not me, but just some thoughts:

If you were hospitalized but not institutionalized, that's a plus.

If you are currently on an anti-depressant(s), and are getting counselling, I don't see why they wouldn't accept you.

A point could be made, that this move would be therapeutic for you, a step in the right direction. Getting your life together will contribute to your emotional well being. That maybe not what they're looking for but still could be worth mentioning.

They are looking for stability, in that they want to accept people that have a good track record for follow-through. They don't want to accept someone who is not going to graduate and make good use of their education. Otherwise they'd have been better off in choosing someone who had more potential.

You actually may have more potential than others who are applying. You have had first hand experience as a patient. This experience gives you an advantage, in that you know what it's like being a patient. That's a very good first step in having a unique perspective as a healing professional. If you can put yourself in the patient's shoes, you will be much more compassionate and understanding toward those precious people seeking health. You'll be a terrific nurse. Go for it! (You'll probably have regrets and/or un-answered questions if you don't at least try.)

Best wishes and many blessings!
