Why is it so competitive to get into a nursing program when nurses are in demand? |
Why is it so competitive to get into a nursing program when nurses are in demand? Because there is such a high demand, the schools are inundated with applicants. There are only so many openings, classrooms, instructors, for each college. Because it is specialized education where patients' lives are in your hands. They need to make sure eveyone they accept is competent and not likely to kill every person they come across. Most people would be glad to hear universities are selectively when accepting nursing students. Would you want anyone to be your doctor, just because they applied? There just arent enough faculty to teach nursing students. The demand is there b/c we need nurses but the fact remains that many nurses and nurse practitioners are not willing to take a huge salary cut to start teaching in schools. They make way more money practicing. |
