I want to apply to Nursing program. What should I do?

Do not waste any time on an LPN certificate, because you'll just be going back in a few years for your RN and then again in a few years for your BSN.

Just do the BSN to begin with. Do your homework. Find an accredited baccalaureate nursing program. Get information for transfer students on what classes will transfer from community colleges and what prerequisites are required.

Here are a few websites to help with your search

Say that your high school grades aren't that great or you have been out of school for a while, enroll in a community college to complete your prerequisites and get nothing less than a 3.0 so that your acceptance process will be smoother. It will also help reduce the cost of coursework at the university level.

If you really want to be a nurse, don't let anything stand in your way. If you want to do research on careers in nursing here's a good website.

Once you get accepted, or even now a good book to read is How to survive nursing school by Kelli Durham.

Good luck!

contact a local hospital ask for human resources...alot of them willl help you get started and offer you a position... even pay for you to get schooling if you work for them!! other than that ... go to a community college..it's cheapest... and most practical

I think you should get up and do it. The longer time you waste the more money is going by. Time is always money. I say it like this because if a man stops and talks to me on the street without him being invited, then I will tell him to give me five dollars for making me sit and listen to his fake *** lines that I hear everyday. Treat this the same way, dont let nobody waste your time, especially you

You didn't say if you are thinking LPN or RN.

The LPN program is the fastest usually, I know you can get thru it in a year in my area. RN requires a four year college degree.

Well if you are wanting to be an RN call the local colleges and find out their requirements and apply for the fall if you find one that you like.
If its the LPN program, you can check with places like the employment services office or vocational schools and find out who's offering the classes and what the prerequistes are. I know in Ohio to be an LPN you have to pass a test before they allow you in the program. The test covers math and science abilities and you can get tutoring to prepare you for the test if you need it.
