Can you get into a nursing program with a ged?

Can you get into a nursing program with a ged?

I think it depends on the school you want to attend. Find out their requirements and go from there. There is usually a time standard, too. For example, I didn't decide to go back to school until I was 25, and by then I had been out of high school for 7 years... Because of that I didn't have to have an SAT score.

People with GED's go to college so I am sure you will be able to, too! Most colleges and schools require you to take placement tests (mostly for Math and English). I scored very high on English, but VERY low in Math so I had to take remedial math before I could actually take the Math course that would count.

I wish you luck! :)

You can get into the CNA and LPN program easily with a GED. Many colleges, mainly community and technical, offer nursing programs with the GED. As far as the RN, it may be more difficult to find a program unless you have a diploma, act or sat, etc.....

I know someone who could not get into the RN program without a high school diploma but she had her GED. She went to a community college and got her LPN. Then she was accepted to that university to take the extra courses for RN.

Well, in Alabama you can. I did. But requirements vary from state to state, and possibly from school to school.
Generally, once you progress to the next level, your previous work doesn't matter. For example, if you take your pre-requisites at a community college, you have pursued education beyond the GED and most nursing schools shouldn't count it against you.
The easiest way to find out for sure is to call the schools you're considering and ask. And you can ask them to send you an application packet. I hope this helps, and good luck!
