I amentering the Nursing Program will it be hard?

What advice can you give me for entering the Nursing Program (R.N.) and get B's and A's? What subjects should I focus on more?

Yes, it will be hard.

Normally, when I see questions about "is college hard?" I think "just relax and enjoy it." But nursing is not one of those "relax and enjoy" majors.

It's serious stuff. Life and death stuff. And there is a lot of material to cover in 2-3 years. Plus, much of your last year will be in clinicals and not in class so they have to front-load the information.

The most important thing is to stay on top of the readings (for concepts) and memorization (for details). If you have general education, as opposed to nursing, classes you can slack off (some, not a lot) on them, but your pre-nursing and nursing courses are hard core.

Find out what your program requires. Many programs have a pre-nursing track before you can get into actual nursing classes. This may mean classes like microbiology, psychology, and statistics. They may admit everyone into the pre-nursing program but have a limited number of spots in the nursing program. There is a nursing shortage, but there is an even bigger nursing-instructor shortage. So doing well in your pre-nursing program becomes important.

Don't be scared. Just be prepared to work. Prepared to work harder than you've ever worked in your life.

You'll enjoy life when you're caring for preemies or assisting with surgery, or saving somebody's life. And you'll make a decent amount of money doing it.

It's a challenge but worth it. Outline your lecture notes and study them daily. Pay attention big time. The clinical courses are really important.
