Does This Woman Go To Heaven?

I want to know what people think:

A woman is good all her life. She is a nurse, she is a member of many charities, she works with the homeless and she spends her sparetime helping deaf children. She lives a long life helping others and never herself. She dies in a fire when saving two children, and donates her organs and her body for transplant and medical research.

But she is an atheist.

If there is a divine power, does this woman go to Heaven?

I feel obliged to add that I am personally an agnostic, and this question is theoretical. I suppose in a sense, I am curious to see what Christians think, and what people of other beliefs think.

I'm an atheist.

But if I'm wrong and there is a divinity, then I would hope that a being capable of creating the entire universe wouldn't be too bothered about being worshipped, and would be far more interested in how we actually use our time.

The notion that a supreme god would prevent you from going to heaven because you failed to recite the correct magical form or pray to the correct demigod out of the thousands of gods and godesses that humans invented, is absurd.

no

Some atheist asks this every day. I've always wondered why? If they truly don't believe in God, heaven or hell, why does this question keep coming up? Are you worried? I would think that a true atheist wouldn't be the least concerned. This question would never enter their minds.

No one is good enough to get into heaven on their own. It's impossible. We've all sinned too much. Our sin has to be forgiven in order to make it there.

I would think so.

Definitely, yes. In my religion, it doesn't matter what religion you are, if you are a good person, you warrant a place in heaven. This woman would warrant one of the highest places in heaven.

No. There is only one way to heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ.

you know, these theoretical arguments have little bearing on real life.

If she was perfect and never sinned, then she would go to Heaven.

Only God can judge the state of a persons soul and heart.

Of course she does.

Isn't there a quote from Jesus somewhere that says, basically "Worry about yourself, bozo, and don't try to figure me out"?

Hey, I think I got that little booklet left on the restroom at the highway rest stop. I thanked god it was there, for the stall was out of toilet paper.

Being she's atheist, I don't think she really cares.

if you are an atheist why would u care? heaven doesnt even exsist it was made up to keep people in check here.........if you are in a bad position when ur alive when ull die ull go to heaven, ridiculous.........

This is a scary question....but I am betting that most of the answers you will recieve are No.

We can all give you an opinion but only God can answer that question.

I believe she would go to heaven.

If God didnt judge her sins he would be corrupt and unfair.

No....! sorry

nope, god apparently doesn't like it when you don't believe he exists, off to the fiery pit with her then, i'll tell you a little secret god's crazy, seriously, why do you think it's only crazy people that he talks to, they're on the same wave length, and as far as the earth goes, it's god's creation, and it's crazy too. i mean the best bet is to go crazy nuts that's the best route to salvation, for real

If she was never given the opportunity to hear the truth in this life, then she will in the afterlife.
But if she heard and rejected the truth, well....
That's why I don't believe in a Hell as far as the eternal hellfire type is concerned...

Who knows?

But, do you think she really cares?

All along, she didn't know or didn't believe that heaven existed. She chose to make the most of her life as it was, with what she knew to be true, making her own life a bit of heaven for herself and for others, right here on earth.

Do you suppose she'd really want to spend eternity hanging around with a God who would punish her for living like that?

Jesus said, nobody sees the Father except through Me.

That applies to everyone, regardless of their deeds on the earth.

What "heaven" do you speak of?

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - NOT by works, so that no one can boast."

Its not how much you do (Thank God)! Because I could NEVER do enough good to deserve heaven. For every good thing, I'm sure I do at least 1 bad thing. I'm human afterall. Its His grace that saves me. All I have to do is live for Him and accept that grace.

I reckon so. Read some C.S Lewis - it is very interesting stuff and he touches on the subject.

we could only give a theological reply as no one on this earth knows the outcome for any specific individual. her kindness and charity are works which may help her get to heaven, some reject that we need works for our salvation. most agree tha the only way to heaven is through jesus christ.......many different aspects that in the end only god can answer this one,it isn't our place to say either or.

well im an atheist. if god turns down a person like this, than I don't think i want anything to do with him anyways.

Isa 64:6 - But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Its not divine power, nor the choice of God.

She had free will. It was her choice. Not any of ours, nor do we wish to pass judgment on her. All we can do is to tell you the truth. All the good things we do are as rags to the Righteousness of God, only through Grace are we saved.

This Grace comes through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

If I were a divine power, I could tell you. Apparently, there are at least 14 divine powers who answered your question, anyway ;-)

ok im an atheist too.

Wouldn't it mean she would most definitely go to heaven if there were one? She's doing good things not for "jesus" or anything or to get in to heaven but because she has a kind heart and puts others before herself. so I think that if there is a god then how cruel could he be to give life and grant someone eternal suffering just becaue she doesnt believe in him. God wouldn't be that self centered, I mean you guys believe he created human-kind, how bad could he be?

No, she does not. She CHOSE to NOT believe in God, and that is a sin that will keep her out of heaven despite all the other good works she did. It is just the same as if she had committed cold blooded premeditated murder.

The christian god would probably send her to hell -

But starangely if you read the Jewish Enclycolpedia Artice of the soul you will find the following quote (paraphrased)

The idea of an imortal soul is not taught expressly in the scripture but rather came to the Jews through a strange intermingleing with the Greeks

Jeus stole the idea from the Greeks that a sould could be imortal (Ezk 18;20 The soul that sinneth it shall die)

Eccl 9 : 5-10 For the living know that they shall die but the dead know not anything for no more have they a portion for anything that is done under the sun -----

Now if the Greek gods are in command you go to heaven

If the Norse gods are in command you go to heaven

But if the angry and delusional jewish boy is in command and you don't recite his name -

Yep hell baby

Unless you happen to be thief and tacked to a tree beside him at the time

You don't know what her last thoughts were before she died. Nor does anyone. Faith arrives at strange times and in strange places.
