What would my school nurse do if i came to her about chest pain and shortness of breath?

just give me advice on how to talk to her

just be honest...tell her your having trouble breathing and your chest hurts...she might listen to your heart beat, maybe have you lie down for a bit...but if its happening all the time i'd go to the doctor cuz thats probably not a good thing

tell her the truth, dont lie just because your afraid of what she'll do

She would probably call 911 which maybe isn't such a bad idea if you have chest pains and shortness of breath. Why haven't you done that?

Just tell her your symptoms and if you have been on new or different medications. Have you been exercising more? Straining or taking energy drinks? She may ask about your lifestyle and then listen to your heart. It would really help to know what brings this on. Day/night? Any other symptoms? Could be a number of things, I'm not going to pretend like I know what it is.

Probably the same thing my Doctor did when I went there a couple of months ago with the same condition.

First, he checked my lungs, to see if they were clear. Did a standard physical exam, and determined there were no obvious issues (like an infection).

Unexplained chest pain and shortness of breath can be so many different things. It could be a heart condition, although at your age it's probably unlikely. It could be a respiratory infection. It could be hystoplasmosis (an infection caused by pathogens that are in dust). It could be an allergic reaction to molds, fungus, or pollens.

Just be honest about your condition, and start keeping track of what causes it (does it just "happen?" does it happen when you're excercising?) and whether certain things aggravate it (i.e. does working out make it worse, less severe, no difference? Does it hurt worse outdoors in the "air" and less indoors in A/C? Stuff like that.)

BTW - Mine is not heart related, but I'm still (2 months later) undergoing tests to find the source of the problems.

I work in an Emergency Room and when a patient comes in with Shortness of Breath (SOB) or Chest Pains, they are immediately moved to the front of the line. If you are experiencing either or both of these symptoms, you could have any number of problems which should probably be dealth with right away. The nurse should get you to an ER as soon as possible.

Younger patients often have inflamations of muscles around the heart which constrict blood flow. This causes your heart to work harder than it should. Stress is the most common cause for this issue. Although this is a common issue, your problem could be more serious and should be treated immediately even if you are not in pain right now.
