I will be going tuesday to take a cpr class so i can get certified before i start nursing school. can anyone?

tell me anything about the class? any tips?

As of this year, the CPR guidelines have been completely over-hauled and are greatly simplified. Don't worry, you won't have to be perfect the first time either--you will be doing this every 2 years, over & over & it will become second nature. Just besure & practice on the mannequin--most people just sit around & watch...practice in the ONLY way to get the feel of this since you can't practice on live people.

Make sure you read the book before you go. If this is your first class and it covers adults, children and infants, there is a lot of material to be covered.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes--something you don't mind getting dirty because you will be kneeling on the floor alot. I don't know if you are male or female, but don't wear lipstick, lip gloss or balm because it stains the mannequins. Bring some lip balm to put on after the class because the alcohol they use to clean the mannequin will dry out your lips.

Don't wear a watch or bracelets as they can get in the way. If you have long fingernails, be prepared to have some broken while performing infant CPR.

Since you are going into nursing, I will assume that you are comfortable being in close contact with people and having them touch you too. You may be asked to practise the Heimlich manoeuvre on a partner (conscious and unconscious). And be prepared for people in the class making crass remarks.

Most important: relax and have a good time.
Good luck

If you're worried about CPR class then you're in for a wild ride through nursing school. Pretty much every Joe American has been through CPR training. Suck it up and pay attention - you'll do just fine.

Just read the info. very carefully. There are differnet variation for infants and adults which you could mix up, but as far as the hands on stuff it is basically a piece of cake. Really concentrate on the test questions because some answers could be similar. You'll do just fine. It really isn't anything to stress over.

Just pay attention - it's really pretty much common sense. If it's your first class, which I'm guessing it is, then it'll be longer then the next time you'll take it to keep your certification up to date. The next time will be much easier - and they refresh you on anything new that's come out since the previous time you took it. Good luck!
