Getting a gpa up is very important at this point. A 1.8 would probably be laughed at(just a figure of speech). But it's not the end of the world. Discipline and focus is going to have to be the name of your new strategy. Enroll in a local community college and take some of those classes that you failed, and try to re-enroll in the university. Concentrate greatly on your science courses, this will be what nursing schools will look at the most. Begin at getting your mind together. You are not the only one, who had a low gpa, but you can make a difference by sacrificing and taking those classes over. This shows the school that you are diligent and dedicated and worthy enough to receive a degree. Nursing school is very competitive. Remember you are competiting with those with 3.6+ gpa's. So your grades have to be top notch. Start in the spring with applying. Take this time to reflect and jump back in the race, not making those mistakes that you made in the past. Best wishes, and remember you CAN and WILL do this.

I think you need to go to a community college and try to take some classes there to get your gpa back up. Some community colleges even offer nursing classes....the one in my hometown in Florida does. It's not going straight to nursing school and becoming an RN right away, but it's something.
