Two women in my class keep cheating on tests. Should we let our instructor know? This is nursing school. These

women both failed last term and are repeating the class. A couple of us discussed it and we can't decide what to do. NO ONE will actually speak with the teacher. He's VERY stern. If you think we SHOULD let him know, HOW could we do it?

There is no fear of these women becoming dangerous nurses. You have to pass a VERY hard exam AFTER school to get a license, which is one reason I think they are being stupid. If they don't learn the material, they'll never pass the NCLEX.

Maybe type up a note to your teacher. Letting him know of the situation. You can make the letter very vague or very descriptive as you like. You don't have to sign it if you don't want to. Just put it in an envelope with his name and put it in his mail box.

Good Luck!

Yes. I wouldn't want someone to be my nurse after she had to cheat her way through school. No thanks. She might kill me b/c she has no one to cheat off of when adjusting my medications. You could send him an email. Or write a letter and have those who care sign it. It's a tricky situation, i agree. But something should be done.

LOL...tell your instructor

I was in the same situation. Told the prof. he didn't care

You serious? I would tell the teacher now! No matter how stern he is,i wouldnt want them as my nurse's.

Tell the teacher, you MAY be saving lives .

Okay stop and think about it in the future tense okay you take your daughter to the emergency room she has swollowed too much tylenol You need someone who knows what they are doing and can react fast not someone who is going to say to herself (do i give charcoal or pump her stomach?) Right.
It's as simple as that.

Send an anonymus not telling him about the situation. This is critical since these women are going to be going out there administering medicine to people one day. The professor needs to know. Find out how they are cheating and bring it to his attention. If he is any good, he'll be concerned enough to look into it.

You must report these women, they cannot be allowed to continue like this. They will be released on real patients eventually and they could be dangerous if not lethal. PLEASE report them. If the teacher is as stern as you say, surely he will appreciate being advised of this.

I used to teach and work in a university, so I know how difficult this problem is. Cheating is rampant in universities. However, considering the fact these are nursing students, think about what the future implications of these women's cheating could be. If they don't know the material and have misrepresented that knowledge, is the subject matter something that could endanger future lives? If so, then you really do need to report their cheating.

Go in to the professor's office armed with valid information. You'll need to tell the professor who is doing the cheating, how you know they're cheating, what you actually witnessed, when and how often. I would also ask your professor to keep your report anonymous. If you have difficulty with the professor, go to your advisor, a counselor in the counseling center or even the Dean of students.

I don't see how the professor would feel upset with you about this. I do see how the professor would be enraged by the students.

Good luck.

For the well-being of all of their future patients, you should definitely tell your instructor. You should probably let him know that you and some other students have noticed a couple of women in the class with ethical issues and you wish to report them on the basis of being ethical and in concern for their future patients' safety.

It's like I tell my students, a test is what lets the instructor know what the students know and what they need to learn. If these women cannot be honest enough to get extra help if they need ot or work hard enough to EARN their certification, they definitely should be reported.

Good luck. I know issues like these are difficult to report in higher educational facilities. At times you feel petty and childish but on the other hand, you have a serious ethical issue on your hands. Let the instructor know. When you do, let him know that you and the others are concerned with the ethical and safety issues themselves and you're not just "tattling". Tell him details of who they are and how they're cheating. Tell him what you witnessed and who all witnessed it.

Again, good luck.

Wow..............You have to tell. Just think of the ramifications when they actually become Nurses. You wouldn't what them working on you.

YES!!
This is a potential threat to someones life if they're nurses! Send the professor an email asking for a meeting, specify that it's very important but only reveal the cheaters DURING the meeting to maintain your anonymity. That way, there's no documentation that is was you who approached the teacher.

If you don't feel comfortable talking to the teacher, try emailing the chair of your department, or, the person above your teacher. Ask for a meeting and explain to him/her why you didn't approach the teacher.
