I am 30 yr old woman w/2 kids trying to go to nursing school, any way i can get a full ride? Many factors determine the amount of aid you qualify for.Your income, your state/country, family size, even your nationality. I am not a financial aid expert but I had to encourage you to not give up and persue your nursing school to its fullest extent. It can be so tiring and trying to do this with children. You CAN do this. My sister did it with three under the ages of 7. Without nurses, there would be no medical care to speak of, very good choice I must say! the financial aid office of the school you're going to, should have some ideas. I'm doing the same thing, in my second year have found a lot of help, but no free rides....a good education doesn't come free.....but good luck!!!! :O) I can't speak for your area, but where I am, Reading Pennsylvania, they bend over backwards to recruit and train nurses for the reading hospital. The hospital is the number one employer in the county, and its entirely possible to become a nurse there for FREE if you agree to work there. as for the rest of your family, that's why there is state assistance, which in PA is pretty generous as long as you are in training to get a job. there is a program called JTPA stands for job training partnership act. This will pay for classes and books and I think daycare. And a PELL grant which the school can help you with. I was a single mom and that's how I did it, but it was years ago. I also got food stamps and medicaid and rent assistance while I was in school. Things were tight but I got through it. ;-) Yes there is a way. |
