Is my marriage doomed? My wife recently started nursing school and she is not allowed to wear jewelry and..?

now she leaves her wedding ring off all the time. "Its too hard to take it off and on all the time, " she said. She said she loves me, at times she gets affectionate but sex is a rarity (2-4 a month)....that being (not) going on for months on end.

She is in school, maybe tired. Try talking to her. Not wearing a ring isn't a huge issue. I don't wear mine at work, generally medical things ask you not to, as so many bacteria get trapped there, they tear gloves, etc.

Talk to her about the sex and everything else you are worried about. Trust her till she gives a reason not to, it's all you can do.

Good luck, try not to stress and over think things.

and you allow no sex in your marriage? well she probably is doing someone else since you just sit back and accept it. I don't think the ring has anything to do with it i would be more concerned about the fact you don't have sex.

Find a life o/s of her. It's awfully hard to be an emotional prop 24/7.

I am in nursing school and I rarely wear my wedding ring because it is very difficult to keep track of while assisting patients or going back and forth between classes and clinicals. Don't worry about it so much. She is doing something great for the both ofyou but she will have a very low energy reserve at the end of the day. Be happy that she is so determined and willing to make a life for hrself. It is one of the least measurable problems on this web site.

You have answered your own question, SHE JUST STARTED SCHOOL!!!!!!!!! Now think about that for a min.
Have you noticed that maybe she's a little more stressed right now, or that she may have a little more to do now, or that she has a little more on her plate then she did before she started school???? Have you thought about her at all? or just worrying about yourself and your hurt ego b/c things in your life have changed and she's not totally focused on you anymore?

I am willing to bet that everyone she goes to school with knows she is married, whether or not she has a ring on.

Have you talked to her about how you feel?? have you asked her how she feels??
Why not try to find out when her next test is (so as not to mess up her study time) and then take her out on a 'date night' and have some real, good, honest communication and see how things are going for both of you.

Good Luck

You should go take a tour of her school when she least expects it!!

nursing school is tuff and it can be time consuming and exhausting. Her not wanting to wear her ring makes perfect sense, as a nurse your constantly washing your hands and if you keep on your ring, you'll ruin it. So take that as a compliment, that she wants to take care of her wedding ring because it's obviously important to her.
As for rare sex, she's probably tired and stressed over school.
Your marriage isn't doomed, unless you think it is and live that way. Be more postive and proactive in your marriage, besides marriage isn't all about the sex. My advice, be patient and talk to your wife about how she feels and work on finding other ways to be close to each other so both your needs can be met, Good Luck!!!

If your marriage is doomed it is not because of her ring. She is still married it if it on her finger or not. I agree about taking it on and off being a pain, she could forget and she might lose it. Why has your sex life dwindled?

I think you are over-reacting.... the other comments that she is tired (and hence low on sex drive) are valid. Try to step up and help her out so she can cope a bit better.

lololol your nieve enought to believe that. honey i worked in the hospital 14 years. i was the only one in there not wearing a ring because i was single. and still am but besides the point. i never heard of nurses not allowed to wear rings or any other jewelry. i wore all kinds of jewlery as the other nurses, just not a ring because i was single. i knew a lot of them didnt wear one when they got to work it would go in there purse because they had their mind on a doctor or another male nurse. i'm a female by the way.the married women got asked out 10 times more than i did, because they assumed i wanted marriage which was not true. they knew the married woman would not talk. so to this day the married women still get asked out more than i do by married men. i know this to be true, when i was married i was always getting asked out. ever since i got single i had to do the asking out.

not having sex is not good- let her know this is a major issue for you or she might not take it seriously. I would not worry about the ring.

I didn't think too much of it until you mentioned about sex 2-4 times a month. When you say doomed it all depends on how you feel about your woman already being with another man. That's a HUGE sign my man. My ex went to nursing school and I never heard anything like that from her. I never proposed but she had her own rings and other jewelry and I never heard about it. Unless not all nursing programs follow the same norm. Best of luck bud. Once you two end up doing it, look for signs of her being or trying new things or positions, that's also a HUGE SIGN OF INFIDELITY.

Your still having sex.....oh you are fine!!!

I think right now in this country and abroad, marriage & having children is a scary proposition.

Today, the divorce rate is so high due to no-fault divorce. If you have kids, for women - that means they hold all the cards. A man today has to realize that, love and "the dream" aside, the risks to men/fathers far outweigh the rewards. Check the source - some great books on just this issue.

Family court is tilted heavily in favor of women/mothers. Moms have all the rights, get all the benefits, and dad is too often relegated to a visitor in his children's lives while being an ATM machine for mom. He can lose half (or more) of the cash, cars, house, investments, etc... and worse - the children.

Seriously, if I had known then what I know now about how the divorce machine sucks in fathers, grinds them up, and spits them out so unceremoniously, I would have never gotten married and given up my dream of having a family.

With no-fault divorce (the biggest killer of marriage and families) you don't need an excuse anymore to get a divorce. You just don't have to feel like being married anymore - and with that reality comes the truth - a marriage is no longer a contract, so what's the point except to put yourself and your future at risk when someone "doesn't feel like it anymore?" With women (who have children) initiating almost 3/4 of divorces today (most men don't even see it coming), it's the smart man who chooses not to get married and certainly not have children... and that's a shame.
