Nursing and high school?

Can you have the proper training for a career in surgical nursing if you don't go to high school??

You must have diploma or GED to get in to nursing school.They won't even let you step in the door without one.And you will need the education.Nursing is not an easy field. You need your math,language ,biology,chemistry,anatomy and physiology just for starters. I don't want to stop you from the course you want to take but let you know ,you need to start with the basic education first .Go back and get the GED then start on the collage classes. Good luck, you can do it! Nurse for over 20 years! And daughter in RN school now.

You can...but you'd have to get a GED, then do your college pre-req's, and then actually get accepted into a nursing program.

if you get a g.e.d you can...you HAVE TO WORK HARD in your pre-req's to get into nursing school...i have a MSN which is a masters degree in nursing and i had to work my behind off and idid finish high school but having a g.e.d is atleast what you need otherwise you can forget about a career in nursing without that or a high sch. diploma

If you are talking about being a licensed nurse, registered or practical, you must first get your GED. Nursing schools do not accept anyone who doesn't have a high school diploma or the GED. Then you must apply to a nursing school and be accepted. To become an LPN takes about 18 months. To become an RN takes about 2 years. To become a BSN, it takes 4 years. Be prepared to work your butt off in nursing school, and then again to take your licensing boards. If you are talking about becoming a certified nursing assistant, it is also required that you have a GED or high school diploma. The CNA classes vary from state to state and facility to facility, lasting anywhere from three months to a year. Some nursing homes offer CNA classes and will pay for you to take them in return for an agreement to work in their facility for a period of time after completion.

You can actually go to a community college and complete your studies there. Community colleges only require you to be 18 years of age. If you do well, you can transfer to a 4 year college after two years of full time work.

However, if you've been out of the academic loop, you will probably want to do your GED first.

hmm okay, first you need a GED then go to college and get your ADN or BSN then pass the NCLEX then get a job in a hospital that will train you to be a surgical nurse (there is no school that if just for surigcal nurse all nurses go to the same school then get on the job education in their choosen specialty)
