How can I get (re)motivated in nursing school?

I am going into my second semester, and I feel so lazy! I know that this is what I desire to do with my life, and I am so close to achieving my goal, why am I defeating myself??? I need tips or suggestions to re-motivate myself so that I don't screw up all that I have worked so hard (5 years so far) to achieve.

When I went to nursing school the last year was the worst. I wanted to quit but my husband would not let me.

Think of getting through nursing school as a step into the world. You can work weekends and go to school and get another degree. Or you can go onto many other phases of nursing. Its a whole new world open to you. Nurse anesthetist they make more money. Then there is a nurse practitioner who is like a Dr but one step down. They do clinical work. You can become a midwife. Just so many other fields will be open to you.

The last year I worked I made $60 thousand. In 2004 I earned $24 an hour base pay, plus $5 and hour for working weekends, plus $5 and hour for nights. I did not work a lot of over time. I worked 3 weekend nights a week twelve hour shifts. Had the rest of the week off. Some states pay more then others and I worked in the south were the pay is lower. You can get a job just about anywhere and there are so many places that are short of nurses.

I have friends who are travel nurses who work 3 months and then kick back and relax for 3 months.

The thing in nursing school that kept me going was the flexible hours and the money.

what happend and y u are feelin demotivated to join... Report It

Think this way----LPN= Bed pans, sheet changing, doing all the nasty work involved with being a nurse---Oh don't get me wrong, it's rewarding and helping people and all that but the pay isn't as good as that of an RN...

RN= Better pay, more interaction with patients and doctors then an LPN, Very little if ANY bed pan duty..you can basically write your own ticket as to where you might want to work.... a more respected position then an LPN....

so, do you want to spend your nursing career in BED PANS or patient care!!!! or yes, even the administrative side of nursing.... or do you want to just pick up the slack.... STAY IN SCHOOL, be the better nurse, the more highly educated RN... you will be much happier when your are working in THAT profession then if you only become an LPN....

I don't know if this applies to you but I know many people who are going into nursing simply because it is a high demand, well-paying job. If this is you I hope you have a will of iron because that is the only why you're ever going to succeed and last in your field, not to mention get through the remainder of your schooling. If this is truly something you want to do you need to focus on the specific reason why you want to be a nurse. Is it to make a difference, help those in need? You need to rekindle the fundamental reason why nursing means so much to you and embrase that to the fullest. We all get a little burned out on what we do, no matter what it is, but maybe all you need is to take some time off and do something else you love to do. To much of a good thing is a bad thing no matter what that good thing may be. Good luck with your career and I hope my advice helps you :)
