Any advice for someone thinking about starting nursing school? |
Any advice for someone thinking about starting nursing school? Make sure it's what you really want to do.Maybe talk to a nurse, and see if you can hang out with her/him for the day to see if it's what you really want.I know two people who quit halfway through ,because they changed their minds.Good luck. Learn to keep your hands warm at all times be ready to devote a lot of time to studying medical terms and having weekly tests on them. Well, do it! That is what I did. Currently in nursing classes and good for you! My daughter is in nursing school right now. My advice is if your not in a relationship, now is not the time to start one. If you have children, make sure you have a support system. If you are in a long term relationship, make sure he supports your decision and realizes that school will take up tons of your time. I say go for it! I have too weak of a stomach for nursing... That's why I'm physical therapy... You will probably have the hots for a doctor, but many nurses do that too as they like the way they operate, you know, a cut above the rest. Kumara!! Are you going into nursing?? That's awesome. You would make an amazing nurse, you are kind, caring and compassionate. You also have a sense of humour which is needed. I had some nurses that made Macbeth look good. You need to have warm hands and a warm stethoscope so that people don't jump out of their skin. Just be the Kumara that we have grown to love and you will be a success. I am so happy for you!! You go girl!! {{{hugs}}} Do everything by the book, but allow yourself to be creative, in class and in clinicals. Talk to someone who knows the whole deal... Get a strong stomach, yours of course. Get some experience within the caring role before you apply to university, maybe as a carer in a nursing home, nurses assistant in a hospital, or even voluntary work. Wear sensible shoes. |
