Whats the first day /week/month of nursing school like? |
I am nervous and I dont really know what it is going to be like. Is it hard as hell or is it nothing to worry about? It really depends on the program, but it's a pretty safe bet that it's gonna be hard as hell. I have been a nurse for about 4yrs now and have yet to meet a single person that thought nursing school was anything but hard. But it's not impossible, obviously, or there wouldn't be any nurses. Don't plan on too much of a personal life and enjoy that your books not falling apart from over use yet. My best advice for nursing school is: get a job at a hospital. I don't care what you are doing, just get used to the hospital environment. Of course a PCT (tech) or extern is the best choice though because you get hands on medical experience. I went to LPN school so things are a little different in RN school (I aam assuming).. the first few days will be just basic "get to know college.. type stuff. In LPN school we spent the first week doing CPR and first aid.. Nursing school is TOUGH.. I won't lie to u.. but u want it to be challenging.. u don't want to be a nurse that doesn't know what she's doing...(we have enough med staff like that).. Some courses will be harder than others.. For me A & P was tough but pharmacology was pretty easy.. it will depend on what ur strong points are.. It is very fast paced in LPN school.. and I am sure it is in RN school.. u have a lot to learn in a short time.. In the med field u can NEVER know too much.. Just know that the hard work WILL pay off in the end.. U will not just have a job..u will have a career with doors wide open .. u can work with any age group, in any speciality, etc.. Mental health nursing is a good field (if u don't go crazy)..lol.. |
