HI, I'm in nursing school, and all I do is study, study, study! Why do I feel so depressed knowing I'm doing..

I know I'm doing the right thing, but why do I sometimes feel like throwing my hands in the air and say I QUIT!!! Is this normal??

Hang in there. It does all come together.

It is easy when studying to start asking "what is the point? and begin to loose hope. It will all come together soon.

In school, especially in the medical profession, you can get bogged down and stop taking care of yourself first. Allow yourself a set amount of recreational time. Go for a run, go out with friends, read a non school related book and let your imagination stretch a little bit.

Good luck :)

Sounds like you just need some time off. Everyone hits their saturation point eventually. See if you can squeeze some down time into your schedule to do kick back. The nice thing about school is that it ends at some point.

This is normal. My friend is in nursing school and she is going through the same thing. Being a nurse take a wide breadth of knowledge and skills. Just trust that this intense time is, in ways, more demanding that the work you will be doing. This mix of didactic learning and practical rotations is mentally stressing and can make you prone to bouts of depressed feelings. As a nurse, you will be learning all your life but it take a lot of preparation to become proficient enough to begin your career. If you do quit, consider that before you can realize the time will have passed and you be that much older but without that degree. Trust me it will be over with before you know it and you will appreciate yourself so much more if you stick it out and accomplish this admirable goal.

Nursing is a hard degree to obtain, so I'm not surprised you feel this way. But it won't be forever. Before you know it you'll be graduated and have a good paying job. If you want to vent, try the nursing forums.
