Why is nursing school so hard and why do you have to maintain a 77?

Why is nursing school so hard and why do you have to maintain a 77?

The primary reason it's so hard is because you have people's lives in your hands when you finally qualify. It does have to be hard, to a degree, to root out those who assume it's an easy job (especially those whose eyes pop out at the bursary most nursing schools offer to students).

However, there is also another reason why it's so hard academically. These days, nurse training is very much university-based rather than experience-based. This means students are spending much more time in class, writing essays and doing exams, rather than being on the wards, learning through experience. Personally, I think it's better for nursing students to learn through experience because patients won't be caring about whether their nurse can do a Power Point presentation or got such-and-such in an essay. Also, it's better for students to be on the ward through the bulk of their training so it's not a shock to their systems when they finally qualify and get a job. However, these days, nursing is much more a university course than a vocation and that is reflected in what is needed to get onto the course.

It's a shame because you get people who are excellent are writing essays and get straight-As in school but they make rubbish nurses because they have no compassion or empathy for their patients. Equally, you get people who have experience working with the sick and are instinctual nurses but haven't got the grades to do the course.

lol cse you need to learn to there specifications so you know what your doing if u get it woithout cheating yuoll be a good nurse

because when you screw up, people die.

well if u were a patient would u want someone with a low average or low iq
to take care of u

Q. What do you call a doctor who completes med school LAST in his class?

A. Doctor

Q. Do YOU want someone taking care of YOU who hasn't MASTERED the basics of health care? Really?

I think level of difficulty is interpretted differently by different people. I would think nursing is hard and personally I find accounting easy - LOL. People I know find accounting mindboggling.

I am going for my MBA, a business degree, and have to maintain a 'B' average (an 80 in numeric grading). In business, my job doesn't affect people potentially living or dying. I actually find it scary that a nursing student can graduate with a lower average than I can for a business degree.

I wish you luck. Do your best. If you are having trouble, reach out to your counselor or maybe form a study group.

Probably because you're not meant to be a nurse.
Nursing has to be hard because you're messing with people's lives every day and you need to know what is what.
You need to respect those who are nurses and appreciate all they did to become one.

If you nedd to ask that question, you need a new plan for career. Apparently you did not give it much thought. you just thought it would be easy. Have you ever been a patient or had someone that was a patient that was in bad shape would you want some one that new there stuff or someone that did'nt know crap, just there for the money
