Nurses: What percentage or how many nurses in your work area or students in nursing school were male?

Nurses: What percentage or how many nurses in your work area or students in nursing school were male?

In my class of 54 we have 24 and I am one of them!!!! Its catching on to men.

In my class of 41 people, 7 of them are men. I think my class has the highest number of men in quite a while. We also have an instructor who is a CRNA who is a man. It's more common than you might think!

I've read that about 6% of nurses are male. Where I work the percentage is much lower- I think we have 2 or 3 male nurses and they are PRN. I work in a nursing home. I imagine if you worked in or for the military, in a prison, rehab center, ER etc.. the % would be higher.

I believe there are 5 or 6 males in my class and one instructor is male. Two of the students are former Marines who are no longer on active duty.

Well.. I'm a nursing student and we're about 70 girls and 5 guys.

This really depends on what kind of nursing you are interested in. About half of the CRNAs in our hospital are men. Two thirds of the flight nurses are men. There are a handful of men in each of our ICUs. About a fourth of the nursing management are men.
If you are interested in Maternity, Labor and Delivery or our extended care facility you would be the only one. But...you gotta like those odds. :-)
Nurses have many options open to them. It is a very versitile career. Job security is rediculous. You can literally live anywhere on the planet and have a job. The pay is not too shabby either.
