This question is for nurses. Do they teach "arrogant" classes in nursing school?

I notice that most nurses are quite arrogant and rude. You'd think they were the masters of the universe or something!!!!!

Most of them are very fat and ugly too. They are protected by unions and laws that state that they must have a certain patient to nurse ratio. As a result, they get lazy and fat then the cycle makes them bitter and old. Attractive nurses are very few and far between.

I've seen some very very empathetic nurses, understanding nurses and caring ones too. There are unkind ones, but there is that mix in any profession...

No they don't but as a nurse and nursing instructor I must say you are CORRECT! I have been a patient over 30 times and got treated like dirt.

I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS left my patients with the words, "I hope you feel better". I instructed my students to watch the movie PATCH ADAMS and remember these are PEOPLE not numbers or diseases.

Some nurses..and doctors, are just that way. Though I have to say, quite a few of my family members are in the medical field and nurses have to put up with a lot of crap from people sometimes. So like anyone else that has to put up with crap from other people..they get irritated and annoyed..

The past 2 semesters I have been going to a small community college that predominantly teaches workforce related classes. Most of the students are nursing students, but there is a growing population of students going just for their basics. The nursing students were awful to anyone who wasn't in the program. They acted like they ran the school, took ashtrays from designated smoking areas and moved them to their private area, they were rude to everyone who wasn't in the nursing program, and the list goes on and on! I know this is not how all nurses are, but some I do feel learn their arrogance in school.

I had a nice guy nurse change me when I was hospitalized. But after wards, the mean nurse came in and took my blood pressure. She squeezed my arm so hard with the cuff link and told me not to move.
Then she shut off my light without asking, so I disappointingly went to sleep.

So sad.

This doesn't sound like a question so much as an opportunity to vent personal frustration. Nurses are people. Like other people, some are rude, some aren't. If you don't like your nurse, go to a different doctor.

I have to agree with Geek this is nothing more than a b _ tc _ session with no basis in reality. The person asking the question must have flunked out of nursing school and now goes around talking of how bad nurses are. And for a couple of the others you soundlike pure idiots the so-cslled instructor if you aare one and were treated that way you should have known what to do and for the one who had her light turned off and went "dissapointingly" to sleep what did you have planned a night of dancing? Please, if you want to put someone down be honest about it. Nurses are by no means arrogant we get all the crap that every patient , doctor, tech and anyone else wants to give. For your information next time your in a hospital remember this that "arrogant" nurse is responsible for every facet of your care.

No, arrogant comes with the job. Nurses do the work, doctors get the money.
