Going to nursing school and working? |
I work as correctional officer 12 hour shift but hope to be a RN one day after I take my pre requisites is it possible to still work 12 hours and do clinicals at the same time? I work closely with corrections officers, hopefully you are about as busy as they are and can study at work. If you don't mind sleep deprivation and spending most of a 24 hour day awake you might be able to manage it for a short period of time. Just remember you aren't SuperPerson and you will need rest time on your days off. If you're crazy. It will be a lot of work, I'm sure. If you're up for it. But that is an insane schedule. I did my classes 2 days a week and my clinicals were also 2 days a week....depending on how much you need to study it could be done. Good luck. Im doing the same thing right now, I work Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12 hour shifts and going to clinicals Mon-Thursday How much study time do you usually need? If you feel you can put in 110%, and balance your work without burning out I'd say go for it. But the last thing you want to do is try to swing through something like nursing half-assed. |
