Whats better nursing school or military, i do not want a large loan to pay back so i'm thinking military... Why don't you do nursing in the military. Or you could have the military pay for your schooling as a civilian and then do your required hitch. It really is a good deal. Also, you can go the student loan forgiveness route but you can't guarantee that will be in place when or if you decide to enter. You can be a 91WM6 (LPN) [it is a 52 week course...half at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX and then the other half at an Army Medical Center for On the Job Training (OJT)] in the Army and when you get two years of college under your belt that the Army will pay for, you can apply and they will probably they will send you to the school of your choice to get your RN and then you become an Officer...it is called the AMEDD Commissioning Program people who come out of the military with a nursing degree generally move on to fairly high paying jobs. especially if you serve in a war zone---you're the #1 for emergency rooms across the country. join the military and get your nursing degree through them In the big picture, are loans really that bad? You can get your first two years at a junior college if you want to be a bachelors degree, or you can actually finish a two year RN program at a junior college as well. Two years at a junior college shouldn't rack up your loans too high, and you are in a great paying career.
