Trying to get into nursing school, and i have to write an essay 250-300 words on why I want to be a nurse....?

I know why I want to be a nurse, but I think my reasons are going to sound alot like everyone elses and I need my essay to stand out since Im not from this town originally and most of the other girls trying to get in are,( i know this shouldnt matter but it does) so I need something that will make mine different. My test scores were really good, but when it comes to the essay Im stuck, plus 250-300 words is alot! any help is greatly appreciated THANKS!!!!!

Doesn't make sense.

Yes, it does make sense. (I sometimes wonder why those two points make people write such things) but...I digress.

I would keep in mind that the people who will be reading these things are going to be older nurses who have been in it a long time with advance degrees and do not make much money. Do not bring up money (bad subject)

If your test scores are high, them I assume you like the sciences. Nice thing to mention. If there are parts of nursing that scared you but you managed to overcome this, that might be good. if you knew a nurse and admired him or her and it made you choose this profession because of their accomplishments within that role or in your life, that could be good.
If you wanted to accomplish something outside of the traditional nursing role (public health, research, forensics) or have a specific role that you wish to pursue (flight nurse, ob/gyn, ER nurse, cruise line nurse, industrial nurse, movie set nurse, nursing home administrator) then you might consider discussing what it was that attracted you to that and how their program (which you can discuss in some detail because you have researched THEM) was selected by you as part of your path.

I, myself, am not too interested in who's grandfather, aunt, whatever came through a trial or tribulation. Stories of personal overcoming of some illness...OK, shows character. I want to see that someone has thought out a carrear path, either with a specific goal or a strong general goal, has researched it to some detail AND has researched my school in enough detail that I know, when I am done with your essay that you know what you are doing,

I would not be reading that essay to decide if you are the next lady with the lamp. I want to know that if I invest 18 months of my program into you, that you are not going to wake up one day and decide to change to basket weaving. I cannot fill that slot with anyone else. It is a linear program. Any empty slot is lost money and a lost oppertunity for someone else. The person reading this essay is out to protect their school's financial assets and reputation (high drop out rate is bad, no matter what the reason)

I would show them that you are a serious student that has chosen this field for a clear reason or two, have chosen your path for a clear reason or two and chosen their paticular program for a clear reason or three. That should be an easy 250 words. Please excuse the spelling, the spellcheck and I are not getting along at the moment.
