What is a good back-up plan if I don't get in to nursing school?

I have no interest in speech therapy, dietetics, or community health. I like that nursing is very hands on. Any suggestions/ thoughts?

Pay no attention to that TC badge. I actually know next to nothing about healthcare, but answer unpopular questions.

Mrs. E, it doesn't work that way with nursing schools. Applicants with 3.5 are being turned away all the time, b/c there are enough spots or funding

Well, as far as I can see, you're a very smart girl. I'm sure that you can achieve anything you wanted to. Even if you got turned down by nursing schools you'd try again and again, but after all the trying you might find there's something out there that you could possibly like. Your still young and the world ahead of you. How about being a LPN? I know it's not nursing but it's close.

Attend a community college that has an articulation agreement with the 4 yr school you want to attend. Follow the plan to a T and you'll be able to transfer to the 4 yr to finish your nursing degree.

Hello,
First off, If you really like nursing, (it鈥檚 your passion, and there is nothing else you'd rather do) then I think that you should exhaust all possible plans to become a nurse before you head towards plan B.

1) Perhaps going to a school where getting into the nursing program isn鈥檛 as difficult to get into but will still provide you a good education and experience. Think about schools anywhere and everywhere its possible.
2) If you don鈥檛 get accepted the first time apply for the next cycle. During that time in between become a better prospective nurse. (i.e. volunteer at a hospital, get involved in your community, take more classes, learn a language etc.)
3) You can get a bachelor鈥檚 degree in something else and get a master鈥檚 degree in nursing. It鈥檚 something like: Entry-Level Master鈥檚 In Nursing. Do some research before choosing one of these paths.

If you do want an alternative plan:
Think of things that you like to do and that you are good at. It鈥檚 also important to look at things with an open mind and do research before you dismiss a future career. Look online, talk to people, job shadow, everything.

Suggestions:
1) Kinesiology
2) Speech-Language Pathology:
3) Audiology:
4) Occupational Therapy-
5) Physical Therapy-
6) Psychologist/Therapist
7) School Counselor
8) Marriage Counselor
9) Social Work-
10) Teaching
11) Special Education
12) PA Physician assistant
13) Dentist
14) Pharmacist
15) Physician
Now, I鈥檝e listed careers mostly in the health care industry. But know that most of these are just as competitive or even more competitive as nursing. And some require additional education/ training to actually practice.
So in that sense they aren鈥檛 really good plan B鈥檚 but they are alternative routes you may want to consider. Also I'd like to note that most if not all of these are hands on. They aren't really behind the desk kind of jobs.
