Will an arrest, with charges dropped, hinder me from getting into nursing school and my license? |
Over a year ago, I was arrested for assault when a fight with my then-boyfriend got out of hand. (I decided to cover for him and he decided to let it all out) The charges were dismissed; however, I don't know how much this will affect my acceptance in nursing program and getting my RN license. My mom was charged with a felony at one point and she got into nursing school. She said that she went to them and told them what had happened (because they'll find out apparently). I know a mis-d is different and it may not even be an issue if the charges were dropped. You should be fine if the charges were dropped, however, keep in mind that this will always come out on a background check unless you look into getting it take off of your record. In the nursing field your record will follow you from the time you enroll in nursing school to the time you retire. |
