I wanna go to nursing school, but everyone keeps putting me down. What do I do? |
I do have a 8 month old baby. But I do not work. And I plan on doing evenings and weekends. And my first year, I only have to do 2 nights a week. I already met with admissions. This is what I truly want to do. And I love school. And people keep telling me..its gonna be hard, I don't know how your gonna do it, blah blah blah. It hurts my feelings, cause I wanna do this, and pushing through it will make me feel like a stronger person. Why can't they just be happy for me? If you really want this, then no one can tell you not to do it. Don't let anyone bring you down. Nursing school is a wonderful choice, and I want to wish you the best of luck in your future. My daughter starts nursing school in two weeks. Invite us to your graduation!!! Go to nursing school. :) First rule about life: You shouldn't let other people live ur life 4 u. Keep your head up and stay strong....If you want it as bad as u say u do. If u don't pursue ur dreams now, you'll regret it later. Forget them! Are they paying your bills, taking care of your child, and are they the ones who want to do it? Girl go for it, and if they're opinions can get to you...wait til you finish..and see what they got to say then, but don't let other people bring you down. especially if they're supposed to be your friends. Are you a single mom? Or a housewife with a supporting husband? Are people discouraging you because you have a baby or do you have a history of not doing well in school? Nursing school requires TONS of hours of homework and studying not to mention lab time and practicum. If you think you can handle that much work- go for it! Nursing pays well and there are plenty of jobs out there. Nursing school is tough, but there have been people with several kids that have gone, and never regretted it. It is one of the best professions you could choose. I think when your child is older, he/she will think that you were a remarkable person to have gone back to school, and accomplished this. You do what you know in your heart to be right, regardless of what other people think. By the way, I went to nursing school with diabetes. If I can do it, anyone can. :) People are like that sometimes, but you cannot let anyone stop you from going for what you really want. You already have a baby, you can conquer the world. You know what you want to do. Your creating new opportunities to professionally grow. It's probable your friends are jealous of your determination and goals. It's harder to be a person without a dream or goal than a person swamped by the size of their goal. It could also be your friend is just an incredible realist (I'm partially) and can only see the hard work and the struggles involved in pursuing a nursing degree. Whatever the reason you shouldn't give up. Good luck on your studies! You've actually done more than you have to. You have enrolled and meet with the admissions dept. So, people are giving you a hard time because you want to get ahead in you career....forget them. If this is really want you want to do then i say go for it. Yeah it wont be easy...but what life changing experience will be...like you said when you finish this it will make you a better individual and a stronger person. I am an RN nursing has changed a lot, The pay, the hours, the work out put, right now it is the worse field to be in. No retirement benefits and a broken body and spirit at the end of the road, You suffer and your baby will grow up with you missing every special day and Holiday. Look at a job as a job. One that gives you a life and good memories at the end. The field is open for women you can get good pay, benefits and hour plus a good retirement BUT NOT IN NURSING. |
