Why am I feeling so much pressure w. friends in nursing school?

I've worked so hard the past 4 years to focus on school and get into nursing school. To be a nurse around 23, 24 is a big goal of mine and since i've got accepted it's been my top priority. I've had to deal with kids my age (21 crowd) trying to get me to go out clubbin, drinkin, partyin but i haven't. It was never really my thing and I've gotten pressure by turning it down. Yes, there are times i do have fun but it's been mild.

One of my good friends also got accepted into the program and we have MUCH to do for next week. I'm challenged/intimidated but am ready for the work and the sacrifices that come with. I'm somewhat annoyed of her now because all she wants to do is go out. It's break this week and we should have fun but i feel that she's having more fun than focusing. Nursing school is a b**ch and i don't wanna be behind but she's been pressuring me to go out with her. She's even been trying to use a special friend as bait for me to go out.

HELP

ever since she broke up w her long time boyfriend she's been going through this weird phase where she wants to go out all the time and everytime i'm out w. she'll get drunk and guess who gets to take care of her? Also she'll put all her insecurities on me and it's not fun. I love her dearly but I don't want her ruining anything w. school because it worked soo hard to get here.

Stick to your decision and to what you know you want. You want to be a nurse and that is your focus, just remember that. Don't answer your phone if your friend keeps calling, tell her you're going to study/relax/go to bed/take a long bath and drink a glass of wine, whatever you want to tell her, and tell her because you're doing said activity you're shutting off your phone and won't be checking email or messages on the computer for the rest of the night. Just keep your goal in mind and when you are a nurse in 2-3 years you will be so happy and proud of yourself. Will you be proud of yourself if you go out drinking and partying and don't acheive your goal? I don't think so.

Just talk to her.

OK if she was you true friend she would understand that you want to focus on your nursing just tell her the Truth

You have to think of your own plans first...this girl is not going to make it if she keeps this up...don't let her sabotage your efforts too...do what you know is right and keep your focus...

Your correct to stay focused. But maybe once in a while it's good to break the monotony of study and go socialize with some friends. You don't have to get drunk and crazy, but just to take your mind off school just for one night. Let her know that it's just one night this week for instance.
Good Luck, ;-)

Well after your additional info, I don't think that's the socializing you want. She is heading down the wrong road. Hopefully she realizes before it's too late.
