Can I take Celexa during nursing clinicals for school? |
I am in nursing school and they have strict policies about taking perscribed medication during clinicals (when we're in the hospital). I was just perscribed Celexa for anxiety and my Dr. assured me that it would be ok to take. Does anyone know whether this would fall into the category of drugs that would show up on a drug screen/be prohibited for nursing students to take? I'm afraid to ask my teachers b/c if they say I can't take it I don't know what I will do b/c I have had really bad anxiety lately. I'm also kinda afraid not to ask b/c they randomly drug test us and if it shows up on my drug screen I will be kicked out of school. Has anyone been in a similar situtation? I don't know what to do...thanks Celexa is not a drug that is screened for. That is definite. As a physician, I order and interpret drug screens. Drugs of abuse are what are being looked for in such screens. If anybody tries kicking you out of school for taking prescribed Celexa (not that they'll ever know unless you tell them), get a lawyer, and then a new house and car with the judgment. Ka-ching! take the drug to remove your anxiety prob, then ask your peers if they would allow it. but i believe they screen only marijuana and shabu users.. |
