Is nursing school for me? I don't feel caring...?

I am in the nursing program. I do not know if nursing school is for me. It requires extensive physical activity and involves a lot of empathy. I have never really been a very caring person, and I really went into nursing strictly because of the money. Is there any hope for me? Any fields in nursing for nurses like me?

Please try to be nice and honest in your response. Thanks.

they do need all the help they can get out there. be a registered nurse..save some money..besides nursing does not have to be physical you can be a school nurse..you can teach...you can work in jail.(they do not work as much and make a lot more money) if your brain can handle the school GO FOR IT...

I have tons of friends that are rn that didnt like it but, sure like their paychecks..WHO LIKES THEIR JOBS ANYWay..

and besides theres got to be something in you that is caring. im sure you are a hardworking person..i mean you are not going to slack of and let the patient die right? if you do oh please...dont be a nurse then..you will go to jail...

you will be fine..theres tons of choices when you become a nurse..besides you actually havent been in one.

do it and then complain later..but, like i said from the beginning. we need all the help that we can get.

sure it's called Kaiser Permanente. you'll fit right in.

drop out you'll make yourself and everyone around you even more miserable than you already do.

I predict you won't last long unless you get into a more administrative position where you do not directly care for patients on a daily basis. Personally, I would hate to think that a nurse responsible for me was doing her job strictly for the bucks.

you really shouldn't be in a job for the money..you'll eventually hate the job and will be aggrevated with it.
you should probably go into something you're interested in

Hmmm the nurse who handle me when I was bon tossed me around like a foot ball.... and kept bytching to my mom because I was stubborn and she couldn't unclench my fists. No one liked her, so I guess you don't have ot be.

I personally think that if you are in the nursing program just for the money, you won't be very passionate and caring. I feel you wouldn't care for your work and therefore wouldn't be a pleasant person to work with. I don't think that having empathy is necessary to becoming a nurse but I believe being passionate is important to ENJOY your work.
In addition, you must be a driven person to be a nurse when it isn't even something you want to do. I feel you would go through the whole nursing process, continuing to question yourself and I feel if you are going to go this far, you better be doing something you want to do. Plus nursing school isn't cheap either. I feel those who are passionate would be willing to go the distance. I think you are better off going in to something you would appreciate it and enjoy, not just for the money.
Good luck with life's choices!!

Although caring is the hallmark of nursing there are a few fields that don't involve much patient interaction, such as a surgical nurse or nurse anesthetist. However they usually require some experience working in acute care.
