Nursing School vs Nursing major?

Whats the difference in getting a bachelors in Nursing or getting a bachelors in something else and then attending Nursing school? Do graduates w/ bachelors in Nursing have to attend Nursing school after if they're to become an RN? Thanks.

Ok...If want to get a BS in nursing you usually have to have a certain GPA(at my school is 3.4) with "x" amount of pre-reqs i.e. chemistry, biology, microbiology, all of your basic classes done etc etc After all that is out the way you, you get accepted and attend nursing school(more indepth nursing classes and clinicals) for a period of time then you graduate and BAAM your a RN.
If you have a bachelors in nursing then obviously you went to nursing school.Nursing school is all part of the curriculum to become an RN. It usually takes 5 or 5.5 years to become a RN.

Ok getting your degree in something else and then attending nursing school and what not, I am not sure about that. As long as you have a degree that has all of the pre-reqs for nursing school you may be okay.Which may be impossible though, my friends who are nursing majors take courses that are stricly for nursing majors- anatomy, microbiology chemistry, health terminology. You may have taken Chem 121 but for Nursing you may need Chem 234-which is only open to nursing majors- so your chem credit won't count no matter how equivalent it may be to chem 234.(i'm making these course numbers up)

My point is, You can't be like me, an English major, and then try to be a nurse without starting over. You can't even be a Biology or premed major..it won't happen.

Hope it helps!
