Case study...plssss help?

there isa nursing supervisor employing both emergency room and floor nurses. the supervisor comes across the concept of cross-training the nursing teamsand giving them more varied responsibilites to improve patient care while lowering costs.he calls the two team leaders Sue and Scott to discuss the plan.sue and scott are against the ideas as sue says tht emergncy room nurses often work in dificult hours and r available whenevr needed.
scott, being the team leader of floor nurses claims they have d heaviest responsibilities as they have ongoing contact wid patients and their families.they believe they shouldn't b pulled away to help the nurses complete their tasks.

plssss refer 3 suggestions for managing resistence to change.i mean 3 ways 4 the team leaders to agree on the crosstrainin concept

pls help...thanxxx

apparently there is a theory for change..

Noone likes change at first ..

They say you ask for suggestions from the two team leaders to reslove the staffing problem.. People feel better when they are involved in a process

Then you sell it as being a trial of an idea not a permanent change...

i only have one suggestion
Most people like to feel that they are needed and appreciated. Rephrase the question and throw in a compliment. I really need help figuring out a way to do this. As my top two nursing employees, I know that the two of you will be able to help me find an answer. What do each of you think would be the best way to crosstrain nurses to handle different responsibilities and how do we get the other nurses to go along with our plan?

Well, the employees should have a major say in this. There should be team meetings and maybe private meetings with the supervisors and evaluation forms for each person fill out with their concerns and likes/dislikes. Plus an informational meeting and explicit letter explaining the benefits and drawbacks would be necessary so that everyone can have an equal opportunity of what the best outcome of their comment would be. If they are not properly informed in a nice manner, then they will continue to go by rumors and personal biases and be subjective and have opposition to change.
