Specific question for nurses/medically trained?

a mate has found a lump in her breast which doesnt move (i think) and is tender (slightly).has been to a nurse who has referred her to the hospital.she is early sixties and had a non-malignant lump removed 15 years back.anything you can say on this please.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse. If it's tender, it may be a fibrous lump. Does she have any lumps under her arm pitts or in her groin, Does she have a milky white fluid leak from the breast. If not then it could be the same as before. Hormonal changes don't help either. I suggest she has a scan taken to rule out cancer. I had the same a few years ago mine was just fibrous tissue.

See a doctor and have a biopsy.

I am actually going through that right now. The best thing she can do is to have it checked out by her doctor. Don't think the worst! It could be a cyst, which they may be able to take fluid out of and she'll feel much better or it could be an infection in the milk duct near the nipple. All normal things that just need some treatment. Most women have a few lumps in their breasts. Just get it checked out.

Any lump in a woman's breast which appears must be checked out, quick diagnosi and quick treatment will save a life.
It may be nothing, but better safe than sorry. The longer it is left and left untreated if it is malignant the mortality rate is high!

It could be the same reoccurrance, or it could be hormone changes in the body that sometimes makes the breast tissue go hard or lumpy in places. Your friend may have to have a biopsy to determine what the lump is formed of. Good luck to you and your friend and hope that the problem is dealt with speedily. x

the chances are its a cyst. The hospital will perform a biopsy - taking a small sample of tissue from the lump and examining it to see whether this is malignant. This process will be very quick just in case it is serious to allow them to initiate a treatment programme asap. I hope the diagnosis is good.

sounds like it could be a cyst i have a lump in my breast and tunny and my Dr said its a cyst and that when hurts its that

no malignant , no prob, anyways she is in her sixties , doesn't need to worry too much, wht if she was 20s or 30s, ask her to thank God. cancer or no cancer, she already live her live.
