I'm 17, how do I go about training to be a vet tech? |
I have completed my GCSE's and got B in every subject, I am now 17, are there any vetinary nurses out there who can tell me how to get into it? In the UK they are called Vetinary Nurses. You should visit your local vetinary practice. You may have to go to College and study for qualification. The Royal College of Vetinary Surgeons awards the nursing qualification and is also responsible for maintaining the statutory list of accredited vetinary nurses. Get in touch with your local vetinary practises you need a placement at a teaching practise. They will enroll you at college and support you through the course. Your best bet is to apply to a Vet Tech program. There are several schools or on line distance learning schools that are accredited. Just make sure that they are accredited by the AVMA otherwise it's a waste of time and money. Bel-Rea is one school that is just for vet techs. You can also look into PIMA Medical Institute to become a vet assistant and they may have a vet tech program in some states as well. Here's a good starting point: |
