What is life like being a student nurse in the UK?

Financially, mentally and physically. I'm 26 and have 2 kids, soon to start my nurse training.

I started my Nurse training in April 2005. I love it very much. The time flies by really quick. I go to Uclan. The problems can be that is is hard financially, which annoys me as drug addicts I know who do nothing are on double the money for doing nothing. You dont get housing benefit either which sucks. The general wards are tough work sometimes as the bitchiness is common with nurses sometimes thinking it is good for students to suffer to qualify. My advice is, take no crap, be firm. report any bullying to university and keep your attendance good as people get put back for having more than two weeks in three years off. Otherwise, a excellent career choice. oh yeah, go to ebay for you books and not expensive stores. good luck.

Its tough in many ways, but with 2 kids you will no doubt find it hard. There is a lot of studying in your own time and when working on the wards you will be exhausted when you get home.
Its worth it, keep going and keep the goal in sight.
