If you want to be a nurse in the military, do you have to go through boot camp training too?

Air Force nurses that already have their BSN go through a two week program called COT. They teach you how to wear the uniform, the rank structure, how to salute, etc.

Nursing students can go to ROTC (where we have special scholarships for nurses), get their BSN and then come on active duty. In my opinion, they are a better officers because they have so much more military/mgt experience under their belts.

Have you talked to a nurse recruiter? He/she/it can give you the most current information on bonuses and availability of slots. The AF nurse recruiter in my area typically exhausts the number of slots he has by April/May every year.

I think Open thoughts is referring to Army personnel only...we don't do that in the Air Force and I have no idea what the Navy does for their nurses.
Happily Married has outlined the AFROTC path...

Yes.

sure do

Everybody in the military goes through boot camp/basic training, etc. (name varies depending on the branch.)

Happily...even then, to enter the military, you go to boot camp.

sgtd74girl...WRONG!!! If you go to OCS, you still have to go to boot camp, THEN OCS.

Yes. If you are in the military, you go through boot camp. Period. End of discussion. lol.

yes, military is military regardless of posting

yep
it's the first step to being allowed in
it's a great opportunity

If you're wanting to be an RN and plan to have your bachelors degree, you might want to look into ROTC at the school you attend. You will still have to attend field training, which is similar to boot camp/basic training, but it is more leadership based. If you went this route you would go in as an officer once you complete your degree and ROTC requirements.

ALL military personnel must go through boot camp except for certain professions who are granted a Presidential appointment or commission for specialty positions.

No. If you have a degree and you are going to go in as an officer then you go to OCS or Officer Candidate School, not boot camp. Boot camp is for enlisted people, which nurses are usually not.

yes

Absolutely

Yes ever recruit will go through basic military training.

Check into the National Guard.

Everyone goes through bootcamp! While officers go through an academy or OCS.

EVERYBODY in the military goes through some sort of basic training. Period!~

Boot Camp, no, but something very similar called OIC. Officers Indoctrination Course. Even Medical Personnel are expected to pass the bi annual Physical fitness tests.
