How much training is required to become a certified nurses assistant, and what is the starting pay in NC? I've seen classes that are as short as 3 weeks and some as long as 12. Mine was 12 weeks and a community college. I went 4 hours a day, 4 days a week. The last 40 hours of class were our clinicals which we did in a nursing home. At the end of class you need to take a test to pass the class and a state test. The state test is given by pearsonvue in North Carolina. It is a written test and a skills test. They have a practice written test on their site (www.pearsonvue.com). You CAN take the test without any classroom training. (it would be harder to get a job though) The starting pay in my area (central NC) is about $9/hr. |
