Can you train as a registered mental health nurse and then change to something like Adult Nursing? |
If so what sort of qualifications do you need? or do you any reference guides i can look into? I'm at uni in Edinburgh doing my Adult Nursing. What Napier do is; if your a qualified mental health nurse, then you get to do an SPG (shortened program for graduates) or conversion course, depending on what you want to do. Both last 18 months and you can qualify with either a diploma or a degree. I imagine that it will be the same for most uni's in the UK. yes big time there are many doors this will open for you all depends what you want don't look for happiness look for contentment When i did my training, if you did adult nursing then you can go on to do mental health nursing but not peadiatric, i don't know about the other way round but i do know you have alot more options if you do adult training (UK). To do your nurse training in England you need 5 GCSE's c or above including English and science, or you can do a DC test at university which is like an I.Q test. dont do it, it's a crap job, poorly paid & the government does not appreciate you & treats you badly by paying you a pittance for what is a hefty responsibility. to answer your question, yes you can change after training but you have to undertake further training. |
