Kittens ? litter training ? |
okay so my cat had 4 kittens im not proud trust me :( but we are spaying her so she cant have anymore ! =) =) for the first couple of weeks the mommy cat will take car of everything! so no worries. you may notice her licking the bottoms of the kittens and possibly nudging their tummies, this is her helping them with their bowel movements and urination. cats will naturally use the litter box it doesn't take long for them to get used to it just make it easily accessible. if you momma cat uses it than it will be easier for the babies to learn. but as for now (at least until their about 9-10weeks old) just sit back and let the mommy cat do her thing. trust me she knows what she is doing and she will do a fine job. if you notice that something is wrong with the babies make sure you take them to a vet but bring along the entire kitty family so they can do a check up on everyone! dig there paws in he litter i have a cat and she had kittens i still have 1 of them and every time the mom gose take the kittens or 1 ofthm hope i helped errr i don't know, check out a book from the library. DOn't let the kittens nurse anymore. Give em Dr. Pepper, the love the stuff, works everytimeee. Now get a big scary puppet monster and yell and shake him until they run away, now follow them with the puppet making the sounds until you corner them in the litter box. It is a natural instinct for a cat to use litter or dirt to use the bathroom. Put a catbox close by and just one at a time pick them up and set them in it. They most likely will figure it out from there. I have 5 cats so I am a pro at cat box training...LoL. My youngest was found on an 8 lane highway at 3 & 1/2 weeks and that is how I taught her. Hope this helps! Nature should take its course. After letting them eat kitten food always put them directly in the littler box, they should get the hang of it after 1/2 times. Kittens are usually the easiest to train. I have fostered many a kitten...they are ready for a little box a five weeks....you may have to get one with a ramp or a small one, not too tall so they can get in it... My son is fostering seven kittens right now from two separate litters. They are 4 and 5 weeks old and both are now using the litter box. Just keep putting them in there, they will play at first, roll around in it and possibly sleep in it sometimes......It is so cute to watch them use it for the first time....good luck.. |
