Do you have to train in general nursing to be a pysciatric nurse? how long does it all take?

What's a general nurse? Are they in the army?
To train as a Registered Nurse in th UK takes a minimum of three years. After the Common Foundation programme you choose your speciality - adult, child, learning difficulties or mental health.
Degree programme takes four years.

You'll need to learn how to spell 'psychiatric'... that could take a long time.

It takes 3 years. Year one is the foundation year which gives you an insight into all aspects of nursing. The 2nd and 3rd year are branch based. Throughout the entire 3 years, you do placements, which they are about the same amount of time that you have to spend at uni.
It is not an easy course to do as there is so much pressure to get the exams done while doing placement, but It's very rewarding!! Good luck

In order to become a RN of any type you must attend Nursing school

No there are specific psychriatric nursing courses, it takes 3 years in total including clinical placements
