Training to be a nurse in UK, how do you cope financially?

I'm a single mum & considering training to be a nurse. I know you get a bursary but is it enough to live on? Is housing benefit affected by it?

Any info & advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

No housing benefit shouldnt be affected the bursary is rubbish but I managed to get quite generous tax credits whilst I was doing it. I recall getting about 拢800 a month and 拢200 tax credits. Hope it helps (I was a single mum too and this was during 2000 to 2003.

the benefits of being a student nurse must be about as high as you can get!
you get paid a very good sum,to train as a nurse.
they need people so much they will pay out a lot,to get people to train.

you could also work as a health care assistant (hca) with a nursing agency the British nursing association (bna) or the other one is the reed agency. and this will help get more income for you i hope that this helps?

Really tough. Too much time at the hospital to be able to take a part time job. Look into Child Tax credits, Housing and Council Tax Benefits. Check out with your local CAB who will guide you through Better Off Calculations.

well my sister did it and she got around 拢500 a month, and she did about 1 day a week at uni and about 3 at placement. so im not fully sure.
