Nursing in Canada?

I'll soon be starting my training as a nurse in the UK shortly and was wondering what the nursing situstion is like in Canada. What are the working conditions there and how will I be treated as a male nurse? I also speak fairly good french - Would this help?

The answer to your question varies from province to province. French will indeed help you in Ontario, New Brunswick and Quebec. Quebec will require you take a language profiency test. There shouldn't be a problem with you being male at all. Most hospitals welcome all kinds of people; as a patient I've had male and female nurses attend me.
I found this web site for Canadian nurses: http://www.canadianrn.com/
Perhaps you'll be able to find some info there. Good luck.

Male nurses are quite common here, my daughter is a nurse and she complains about the short staffing that's been happening.
It's supposed to get better but she hasn't seen it as yet. The money is very good and nurses are always in short supply.
French is always good but you only really need it in Quebec and maybe New Brunswick. If you do go to Montreal your french will be an assett,
