Nursing in Malta?

I an currently and student nurse in the UK and when I qualify would like to move to Malta to continue my career.

I was therefore wondering what the requirements are to be registered as a nurse in Malta? (such as language and qualifications etc) and does Malta employ foreign trained Nurses? and if so, how much does a nurse there get paid?

If you could also provide any useful websites as I have been unable to find any concering foreign nurses in Malta.

Try contact the Institute of Health Care in Malta. That's the place where Nurses train.

Try this website... hope it helps you.

Can I come?

Try ringing the Malta High commission which is in Piccadilly, London. their telephone number is 0207 2924800. They give you a choice of listening in English or Maltese.

This has loads of information. It is aimed at people taking electives but should help you.

pay in malta: about Lm 300 per month.

Lm1 = 2.33 euro so
Lm 300 = 699 euro monthly.

it may be something less, according to the grade and how long you have been working as such.
pay also depends on your employer. there may be differences between payment from the government or private hospitals. however, i think that the sum up there is a good estimation of how much you will earn.
there may be deductions for tax and national insurance reasons.

i think, as malta is in the eu, work permits are as for the maltese. i know that now only srn nurses are appointed (not scn).

I'm sure they will employ you...if you only know english thats not a problem, because most everyone else does. call St. Lukes hospital, they may be able to give you an idea of the pay. http://www.slh.gov.mt/index.asp

Good luck
