I would love to do nursing training but have to care for husband & ihave 2 boys 10 & 14 - can it still be done Your husband is a grown man. He can take care of himself so that you can do the best for your baby. Your boys are also old enough to do for themselves. I have a just turned 3 year old, a just turned 1 year old, and I'm married. NOTHING will keep me from nursing my baby (due at the end of the year). If I can do with with small children you definitely can with big ones! Are you a maid? I don't think so. The men in your life can all pitch in and help. I was doing 1/2 the family cooking and cleaning at 10. OF COURSE! You're boys are in school all day, so mommy can be too! Look into your local vocational school. I went into the LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) program straight out of HS. The program was less than a year long and only cost about $5,000. That was 5 years ago, but I can't imagine prices have gone up that much nor vary that much state to state. I enjoyed the program TONS more than any other conventional schooling I have done. It was all very hands on, not just sitting in classrooms semester after semester..... If your boys are that old, and your husband is grown, why shouldn't you be able to do it? If they depend on you for absolutely everything, then now would also be a good time to train them in how to be responsible people. Teach them the skills they are going to need as adults, and that will lighten your load as a mother and wife. I don't know of any man who will go hungry because his wife isn't there to 'do' for him. Laundry is not rocket science and if they like to wear clean clothes then they should be introduced in how to make that happen. The kitchen is not a menstrual shed, so males can go in and operate appliances. Teach ALL of them how, and let them know what it is that is important to you. School is, and they should be willing to learn so you can be free to do the same. Is your husband ill? Is that why you say you need to care for him? Ask a family member to help you care for him while you are in school. Your boys are old enough to care for themselves and will admire you for pursuing your education. |
