Idiot brother-in-law?

I just wanted to know what people think of this comment my brother-in-law told me at dinner the other night...

He stated, "If people with cancer did not pro-create, then it would eliminate cancer, because all cancer is genetic. People who have these genes are weakening our human race."

Okay, here is my family history. "Most of my aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins have had or died of cancer." Plus I am a nurse practitioner who works in oncology.

What would you do if someone told you this????? Wouldn't you take this a personal insult???

without question. not only is it offensive, he is highly misinformed. his premise is almost hitler like in his genocidical approach to this disease. of course if karma actually exists, we all know what will be coming to him. on behalf of most of us, i apologize, and wish you the best.

That is rude and I believe in Karma. He will die a long slow painful death from cancer just for that.

ask him if you can shoot hiim so he can't procreeate either Goodness what an idiot, not all cancers are heridity some are due to the enviorment. What a moron.

It is said to see such ignorance in people that you know. I would just ignore it. Pick and choice your battles and this isn't even worth it.

Yes...definitely a personal insult, because I, too, have relatives that died of cancer.

Your brother-in-law is uneducated and needs to be taught...he likes to point the finger, because he's ignorant about the illness.

You need to give him a reality check and tell your sister what's up.

You should tell him that ignorant a**holes should not procreate either because they are running our society and country.

not only is he ignorant in thinking that all cancer is genetic, he's an *** for saying that, especially with the family history. but, you may not want to start a family feud, so it may not be worth saying anything.

The guy is ignorant. You should know as a nurse that cancer is not only genetic but can be cause by many other things, And it was an insult to you. He pissed me off. I would correct him so he feels stupid.

He's an idiot. Why didn't you correct him citing occupational exposure like mesothelioma and agent orange exposure? I feel sorry for you. My BIL is an ignoramus too. He wants to breed his unfixed, poorly socialized, thyroid -diseased labradors. He's had a litter of two already and can't give the dogs away. He's always doing things to mortify my husband.

Nope, I would tell him to do his research before spouting something like this off....

In actuality, EVERYBODY has cancer. Every human being is a "carrier" so to speak. It is only active in some people. Didn't you learn this in nursing school? (That's where I learned it!) It was the biggest shock to me which is why I remember that above any other thing....

"Sorry, BIL, but you'd better not procreate as you'll be spreading the cancer gene and weaken our human race."

I wouldn't take it as a personal insult. It sounds like he's too stupid to think a comment like that through.

I would take it as someone being an a** what a jerk. And yes I would be offended. What an idiot!
