Calling all NURSES...?

if you are...what kind of nurse are you and do you like your specialty.... I currently am a Medical Oncology Nurse who works with generally a lot of geriatrics and am looking to expand my career to another field of nursing. I am I most interested in learning more about being an OR nurse or even a rehab nurse. Id love to hear your thoughts

I too am a nurse. Also worked with oncology. I really enjoyed it, the orthopedic patients were also on this floor. I had to move due to neck injuries, and back pain from pulling on patients for over 15 years.
I love kids but thought I would not be able to handle working on pediatrics, seeing sick kids. I worked there one day...and LOVED it. I got to play ALL day. It was great. I have been working there for over 3 years now. (The really sick kids go to the intensive care unit, or ship to a larger hospital. It is not depressing at all)

Surgery was sooo cooool. Loved it tremendously. But...having to stand in one place for ten hours was not my idea of fun. Besides the patients are asleep, you can't talk with them. After awhile it becomes boring.
Rehab is great if you like working with older patients,(they ARE more polite, and appreciative than the younger ones)

Pediatrics is great because after holding them down, and placing an IV, or doing in-out caths on them...they forgive so quickly. You pick them up, apologize to them...and they hug you........It Is The Greatest.

My only regret is that I didn't do this earlier.
