New Mother Rat? |
Is it ok 2 put unflavored pediatric electrolyte in my nursing mothers water? I wouldn't recommend it. She may not like it and not drink anything and get dehydrated. well if its a mother feeding her babies i would not risk it i had a mother rat and she was so nice intel she had babies she was evil so i got rid of her . so any sorry for the story but if she fedding her babies your pretty much feeding it to the babies its up to you . GOOD LUCK. I don't see why it would not be ok, as it is a electrolyte replacement drink. And as for the "evil story" it is possible that perhaps mom thought you were going to hurt her babies. My little Snowy had babies, and yes she did nibble at me when they were still there, but once the babies got old enough to adopt, she went back to her old self. Also, if you are rough with an animal, no matter what kind it is, you cannot expect it not to use its only line of defence which is its teeth. i might not risk it, but if you'd like to supplement your mother rat's diet, give her some extra protien or something healthy for her that will give her diet some extra variety. putting things in her water that she hasn't had before might mess with her system a little bit, and if she even goes off her water, it might effect her babies nutrition... but it might be okay. just in case though, put two water bottles in her cage in case she doesn't like it I wouldn't risk it, but it might be a good idea to put her on a high protein diet while she is still caring for the babies. What for? Normally rats drink water. Unless she has a health condition requiring extra electrolytes, I wouldn't do that. But give her a good quality diet; she should be fine. Leave the water alone. There is no need to mess with it. Instead give mama soymilk in a dish with some lablocks. This is really good for her and the babies. |
