How much does a Pediatric ICU Nurse make an hour?

Nurses at each facility are generally paid on a scale set by the hospital. Some hospitals, however, will negotiate individual salary agreements with each RN. For this reason, it is impossible to tell you the exact amount for the position you have requested.

The average salary for an RN in the US currently is $25.00 per hour. Pediatric ICU nurses, however, have a tendency to be more experienced than the average nurse in the hospital. As a rule, most PedICU or Neonatal Intensive Care nurses have worked first pediatric and/or newborn nursery nurses, and then moved into the ICU as their skills and knowledge develop. Some even work for a short period of time on a medical-surgical unit prior to moving to peds or the nursery. Therefore, they would make more based on longgevity. Also, Peds and neonatal ICU Nurses are generally ACLS and PALS certified, and some hospitals will pay a differential for this additional certification.

I work in an Intensive Care Nursery (newborns) as the unit secretary... The nurses I work with start at 19.50/hr. - That is across the board for every department in the hospital i work in.... Plus if they want to work weekends/evenings/holidays, etc... you can add on more money to your base pay

Full time employment annual salary for a new RN in my neck of the woods is apprx 45,000/yr.
