Is a pediatric nurse a physician and an M.D.? |
Is a pediatric nurse a physician and an M.D.? a nurse is a nurse, a physician is a doctor and an md is a medical doctor. I'm a pediatric nurse and I'm just a pediatric nurse. No, a pediatric nurse is a nurse that basically specializes (not sure that's really the right word to use) in children. Pediatric nurse is just a pediatric nurse that's all. You should ask what pediatric mean then you could get a good answer. No. Nurses attend 2 or 4 year undergraduate programs, with a very few earning a masters-level degree. They are not permitted to prescribe medicine (though they can administer it) or perform surgeries. They are, in essence, assistants to physicians, doing the routine, manual tasks that don't require terribly complicated judgment calls so that the physicians have time for those tasks that do. |
