a. medicare Medicaid. People typically retired around 60, maybe 65. When Social Security was set up, life expectancy was only 65 years old. Now it is around 80 for both men and women. So, it is rare when a person that lives a long time has the money to be retired for 15-20 years. Many times that person ends up in a nursing home. When all their finances are spent, Medicaid takes over. And for those Americans (or illegal aliens for that matter) that have no money and never saved, Medicaid starts paying from Day one. |
