What do you hate most about going to the doctor each year and going through a physical?

I'm 18 years old and each year I dread going to the doctor for a physical. I become nervous at home right after I shower and get ready to leave to go to the doctor. Once I get there, I try to relax in the waiting room. In about 15 minutes, the nurse calls my name and I instantly get butterflies in my stomach. She takes my weight and height, then takes me to a bathroom where she gives me a cup to pee in. She then takes me to the exam room where she has me sit on the exam table and she takes my bloodpressure and temp. She then takes out a paper gown and asks me to take everything off including undies and slip on the gown. When the Dr. comes in, he asks me some questions, then he removes the gown and starts the exam. I feel totally embarassed sitting naked for half an hour. I get turned on when he examines my feet and toches my toes and again when he's checking my private areas. Is this a normal feeling or is there something wrong when a teenage boy gets these turn-on feelings?

You sound healthy to me. Many doctors treat so many seriously ill people who are in bad pain. They don't always realise that healthy people need to have it spelled out to them what can go wrong, or how early they can diagnose and cure most illnesses. Did anyone explain to you what the point of all this is?

I don't dread the annual visit, but my doctor and I each have names and use them in conversation. If you find it so stressful, why not change doctors or discuss your issues with your doctor? They aren't actually there to burn you at the stake; they are hoping to save lives and make them more worth living. Their own careers wouldn't be much if they didn't get on with that. You write "the Dr." as though he or she doesn't have a name. Can't you explain to your doctor that you feel that you have shed your name with your clothes?

Hopefully someday you will be fine with being unclothed with another person. If not, that's entirely up to you. It's not supposed to be such an ordeal!

yeah for guys the doctor has to feel your balls and tell your they are "completely normal". Pretty awkward.

I WISH I only had to go to the doctor once a year. But I would certainly be alarmed at what 'turns youo on'. I get turned on by getting the hell out of the office without paying an arm and leg.

If you are 18 and healthy, there is NO reason you need to do an annual physical! That's rediculous! It's just a way for the doctor to get money out of your insurance company... if it makes you uncomfortable, just go when you are sick, or every 5 years is PLENTY.

And of COURSE you might get turned on... someone's touching your privates, that's a physical response, not something you can control.

LOL JK dude yeah i feel the same way dont like the papper gown i feel sick when i put it on.but i rather have that then get sick and not know about until it get's worse.

Your story seems pathetic. Usually, this kind of routine tests are being conducted everywhere but for a teen of 18, this is too much.. mentally, you will get disturbed but fortune smiles at you... Keep going.... You are a god blessed to have your checkups in your young age and this goes to prove that you will be perfectly allright in the years to come.

Wait until you get older and he slips on the glove for the " digital exam " you'll have something else to be nervous about.

I hate it when they look at your privates.

Actually a lot of teenage boys get those feelings but just try to stop them somehow because you can become gay or something creepy like that.
